Celebrate local independent designers who work with sustainable materials and adhere to green business practices at The Bay Area Guide to Independent Fashion Festival hosted by YBCA. Offering a runway show, vendor fair featuring clothes and accessories from emerging and established regional brands; and panel discussion on fashion and politics, this event highlights the craft and couture of some of the Bay Area’s most dynamic independent designers. It also offers a glimpse inside and a living exhibit based on the upcoming book The Bay Area Guide to Independent Fashion by Letitia Ntofon. Supporters of the event include CCA, Innovative Fashion Council SF, Global Exchange, SF Indie Fashion and Eco Citizen.

A conversation w/ Leslie Rabine, Susan Kaiser, Erica Varize, Irene Hernandez-Feiks. Take a deeper look at current issues of diversity in fashion, through a critical lens of America's Next Top Model, Project Runway, Sean Combs' If I Were King documentary, Rip The Runway, and an exploration of the article written in New York Times in 2007 about the lack of diversity on New York 's fashion runways and the current “Black Issue” of Italian Vogue. Moderated by Cicely Sweed, YBCA Public Programs Curator.
